Tues Oct. 5th. In the morning Mr. Taylor and I went out after guinea fowl again but altho I dropped one with a broken wing I found that they could run thru the grass and into the bush without my getting a shot. Also the 20 which I had has not enough punch for guinea fowl except at close range. So we were unsuccessful. When I got back I felt a little low so I sat down to write in my diary while Hal and Mr. Taylor skinned a monkey a hunter had brought in. But as I was writing I got colder and colder and the first thing I knew I was shivering with fever. So I put on my sweater and lay down with 2 blankets over me just shivering. Later Hal brought me a hot water bottle and took my temp – 103.1.

Dr. Strong and Shattuck returned today.
