Home again after 80 miles in 4 days. We got off at 605 today and ran behind our porters to Pele where we were told our skin disease victim was out hunting that we could get no fresh porters. However just as we were getting discouraged the first walked by and was grabbed, unbedded and sectioned on the spot.

Xxxx – At the end of our hour we moved on with 6 new porters to Bunai and Weenjou where we decided to break up the day by having tea crackers and jam etc and sitting in the shade of a house for over an hour. It certainly was a relief to get out of the hot noon sun to fill up that gap in the midref present for an hour and to rest the legs a bit weary of their job. Dr. Shattuck and I stayed until 200 when and when slowly walked the 3 hrs to Gbanga and the base camp. It was a relief to get back and I took great pleasure in a bath filled to the brim with water. A real bath. And in the evening we sat around and told one another what had been going on over a bottle of cherry Brandy Theiler had brought from London. It tasted like the proverbial million Dollars. And so ends a trip to the French border – 80 miles in 4 days with about 30 of it wasted in going N, E and then S. We saw little but we walked far.
