Dr. Allen & I spent the better part of the morning hunting but with very little luck. I got a francolin and he a yellow ruffled black bird. But on the whole it was a poor day for the vertibrate Zoology department. Except a red Duiker which the hunter brought in – I photographed & Hal skinned. In the afternoon I helped Dr Allen skin birds while I wasn’t taking pictures. And as we worked they injected Johanna with an ulcerous tissue to see what they could see. It seems a devil of a note to spoil a perfectly good monk that way. And later – when I had returned to Diary writing we bought another monk – more wild and much less friendly. I called it a day on developing & went to bed instead.
