Mon Aug 30th  Another day of travel. At about 800 I set forth with 8 boys for Miamu to set up a receiving station for supplies shipped from Reppues unescorted. It was a rather nice morning – over-cast but cool without rain. And the trail was very nice, too tho crooked running thru deeper woods with an occasional brook dashing over rocks. There was one hill, too, which went straight up for about ¼ of a mile and which brought the perspiration out in streams. But all in all it was an easy day – and a short one and I was soon in Miamu.

When I got in Mr. Mark – the govt. head at Miamu – met me and told me that Dr. Strong had left in the morning leaving 48 loads behind. He also brought me a very small chicken and a pot to cook in for which I had asked. I set to work & made some coffee for myself which really tasted well. Then I set up the bed etc & sat up to look around.

Theiler & Linder soon came in & I made more coffee for them which they ate drank with pleasure. We sat around in the afternoon after taking a picture of a ring worm patient – about 3” in diameter – the ring I mean. But most of the afternoon was wasted(?) in talk. In the evening I played the uke until about 800
