Sun Aug 22 – I puttered around most of the morning – washing more stains off the movies, writing etc. * At about 1200 Allen, Linder and Coolidge arrived from Lango town with a message that Theiler & Shattuck would follow early the next day. We were very glad to see our fellow voyagers after a whole week of Lan Kakatown and the prospects of moving were much brighter. However as there was no regular chop for the night I put out after lunch with a short gun and an eye for pigeons. In about an hour & a half I got 4 pigeons a new variety of hawk and 1 small plantain eater, but as they did not trust my ability as a provider they had already made arrangements for other chop so that my birds must needs be held over till morning. Dr. Allen skinned out one of the pigeons and the hawk.

After supper I again developed, Coolidge helping me mix up chemicals. I did 200 ft of movies & 2 doz 4x5s bringing me up to date on the latter.
