Thur Aug 19th – More rain. We shipped out 103 porters with 97 loads however – with Dunbar as overseer which gives us a good start on our way. And we have been sending back men to Lango town almost every day. Later in the morning I went hunting but only got 1 cuckoo and a few more pigeons. We ate the pigeons and I skinned the cuckoo in the afternoon. I also decided that we would not be moving for 3 or four more days as Theiler had fever in Lango town, Linder on the Du and Dr. Strong in Kakatown, so I got out my developing outfit and had some water hauled. In the meantime I gave Colbar a gun & sent him off hunting. He came back later with a very nice hawk for me to skin tomorrow.

After supper I developed 200 ft of movies.

Bequaerts boy was drunk all day & in some ways quite amusing. He would continually come in asking if we had called or attempting to sweep or fix up the place. As the afternoon wore on he became more & more noisy & at one time was arguing loudly in the middle of the square until Bequaert shut him up.
