The Harvard African Expedition, Book 2

Book 2 chronicles Loring Whitman's travels from September 13, 1926 to November 21, 1926. The diary begins as Whitman and two companions, Strong and Shattuck, travel to Garmu, Liberia and the French border. Upon returning to the base camp in Gbarnga, Whitman continues to explore surrounding areas and take photographs. On September 24, 1926, Loring Whitman's party splits again and Whitman leaves Gbarnga alongside Dr. Strong, Shattuck and Coolidge for a trip to the eastern part of Liberia. The party establishs a base camp at Tappi Town before eventually traversing down to the Liberian coast and ending in Monrovia, Liberia. On Nomber 21st, 1926 the diary ends with Loring Whitman and his companions leaving Monrovia on a German boat, the S.S. Wolfram, bound for the Congo.
