There is trouble brewing – This morning Burmah (called Boimah) – Dr. Strongs boy and Jim – Shattuck’s – told us that George Shaw the gun boy was no good & had been in jail twice for stealing. Well – as they are the head boys what are you going to do? If we keep him they will steal from us and say he did it. And we can’t afford to have too much dissention in camp. I guess he will have to go.

We spent the morning in microscopic work – the specimen from the little girl has proved to be rich in Schistosoma Haemotobia – more commonly known as Bilhartzia – a flat trematode which has a rather interesting life cycle. – The egg are layed in the small one stage of which is passed in a certain snail. We found unhatched eggs – half hatched eggs and free swimming parasites in abundance – a rich haul.

In the meanwhile I boxed up the rest of my chemicals so that all I have left to pack now are my personal goods & chattels. I also rolled up my movie films and packed them away.

In the afternoon Dr. Strong & I revisited the sick cassava patch and collected some leaves which I subsequently photographed.

Dr. & Mrs Bonet came in to call about that time – she sane while I played the uke – it is really remarkable that she knows all the words to the American songs – and even more American songs I’m sure than I do. She also has quite a good voice – and very high. They stayed till after 800 which delayed my developing and subsequently kept me up till after 12 finishing up 40 negatives.
