Later in the day yesterday I had a note from George saying they had started. They were evidently waiting for someone to send them porters and as soon as these arrived they moved next day after my letter reached him. Yesterday afternoon Allen, Linder and Coolidge arrived. Allen and Linder both fell in a stream while crossing on one of the logs but had no other mishaps. George and Theiler are expected this afternoon. I sent George 15 more porters yesterday afternoon as he says he cannot get any. I am planning to leave tomorrow with the whole party. It is still showering today, but we may see the sun for a few moments. Allen Got a Manis, a pangolin, the scaly anteater. There are three species in Liberia; this is the smallest one. It is arboreal in habit. Day before yesterday Bequaert made an important finding of Maschalocephalus dinklagei, one of the Rapataceae. It is the only member known of the family and genus in Africa. It has only been found in Liberia once before. So far we have found three species of Tsetse flies, but none of them are numerous.
