July 7th.

It is pouring rain and rained a good part of yesterday. We have just passed Cape Mount Liberia and expect to arrive in Monrovia in about three hours. I must go and pack. Last evening we had Mrs. Hermann, wife of the German consul in Liberia, and the captain to dine at our table. I had Loring take a moving picture of Freetown from the ship as we sailed away. He took a photograph of the members of the expedition on board yesterday.
